Frequently asked questions
How do I install this theme?

Please refer to the how-to guide: Installing Chap

I get an error after installing the theme: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '['...

The error is most likely caused by an outdated PHP version on your web server. This theme requires PHP 7.4 or higher.
Please consult with your web hosting provider about upgrading to a higher PHP version.

I use Pantheon hosting and get a white screen when activating the theme

When using Chap theme on the Pantheon.io website management platform you need to install the Native PHP Sessions plugin provided by Pantheon before activating the theme.

In order for the theme to read required files correctly in Patheon’s “Git mode” you need to add define('FS_METHOD', 'direct'); to your wp-config.php file.

Google Cloud hosting with Bitnami – Missing stylesheets or problems reading or writing files

Bitnami installations on Google Cloud hosting frequently experience problems with file permissions. If your site is showing many 404 errors in the console and not loading stylesheets properly, then setting the file permissions again can solve the problem:

sudo chown -R bitnami:daemon /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content
sudo chmod -R g+w /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content

Please include any PHP error messages in the support request when applicable. If you get a white screen then the error messages may be found in your server log files.
